Soil Microbiome Structure and Function in Ecopiles Used to Remediate Petroleum-Contaminated Soil

چکیده
The soil microbiome consists of a vast variety microorganisms which contribute to essential ecosystem services including nutrient recycling, protecting structure, and pathogen suppression. Recalcitrant organic compounds present in soils contaminated with fuel oil can lead decrease functional redundancy within microbiomes. Ecopiling is passive bioremediation technique involving biostimulation indigenous hydrocarbon degraders, bioaugmentation through inoculation known petroleum-degrading consortia, phytoremediation. current study investigates the assemblage microbial communities pollutant-degrading potential undergoing process, amplicon marker gene metagenomics analysis soil. key community members bacteria, fungi, nematodes revealed surprisingly diverse composition bacterial was found be dominated by Alphaproteobacteria (60–70%) most abundant genera such as Lysobacter , Dietzia Pseudomonas Extensimonas . fungal consisted mainly Ascomycota (50–70% relative abundance). Soil sequencing data allowed identification enzymes involved biodegradation hydrocarbons, providing novel window into function individual groups Ecopile. Although genus identified (11–46%) all samples, metagenomic were unable confirm role for this group petrochemical degradation. Conversely, relatively low abundance (0.4–9.0%), Pusillimonas (0.7–2.3%), Bradyrhizobium (0.8–1.8%) did possess genes aliphatic or aromatic compound

Recycling of solvent used in a solvent extraction of petroleum hydrocarbons contaminated soil.
The application of water washing technology for recycling an organic composite solvent consisting of hexane and pentane (4:1; TU-A solvent) was investigated for extracting total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH) from contaminated soil. The effects of water volume, water temperature, washing time and initial concentration of solvent were evaluated using orthogonal experiments followed by single facto...

Written in English with a summary in Swedish and French. The rapid urbanization and industrialization has led to an increase of disposal petroleum hydrocarbons (PHC) and trace elements (TE) into the environment. These...
متن کاملStudy of Adaptations in Bacterial Isolates Inhabiting Petroleum Contaminated Soil
Oil spills and petroleum based pollutions are very common which cause a potential threat to both terrestrial as well as aquatic life. Bioremediation has become an alternative way to remedy. These microorganisms can degrade a wide range of target constituents present in oil sludge. An ability to isolate high numbers of certain oil degrading microorganisms from an environment is commonly taken as...
متن کاملEnhanced Biodegradation of Petroleum Hydrocarbons in Contaminated Soil
Soil samples taken from a contaminated site in Northern Quebec, Canada, exhibited a low capacity for biodegradation of total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH), despite a high capacity for the mineralization of aromatic hydrocarbons and a low toxicity of soil leachates as measured by Microtox assay. Toxicity assays directly performed on surface soil, including earthworm mortality and barley seedling ...
متن کاملAssessment of the use of industrial by-products to remediate a copper- and arsenic-contaminated soil.
Two water treatment sludges (WTS-A, WTS-B), two red muds (RM), and red gypsum (RG), all rich in iron oxy-hydroxides, were added to a soil highly polluted with As and Cu at 2% (w/w) to reduce metal bioavailability. Because the amendments increased soil pH to approximately 6, a lime treatment to the same pH and an unamended treatment were included for comparison. All the amendments had significan...
